MC Assembly Donates to Brevard County’s Supply Zone for Teachers
MC Assembly may be a leading mid-tier electronics manufacturing services provider serving clients around the world but the company still understands the importance of supporting the communities where its team members work and live. Teachers in Brevard County discovered that commitment recently.
The MC Assembly “My Community” team helped gather school supplies for economically vulnerable children in Brevard County. The school supply drive was in conjunction with Brevard’s Supply Zone for Teachers, which was created to meet the needs of the area’s school-age children.
An alarming 52 percent of students in the economically vulnerable areas determined by Brevard County live on the brink of poverty, with many of them arriving at school each year with no basic school supplies. Often times, teachers pay for those supplies out of their own pocket.
“Teachers do what they can but they shouldn’t be asked to shoulder this burden by themselves,” said MC Assembly’s Director of Human Resources Brian Kingston, who said the average teacher can spend upwards of $600 per year on their students. “That’s why we feel so strongly about supporting this worthy cause.”
So the MC Assembly “My Community” team staged their own internal supply drive to help support the Supply Zone for Teachers. The electronics manufacturer was able to donate thousands of dollars’ worth of school supplies for the county’s youngsters.
“Children shouldn’t start the school year off at a disadvantage,” Kingston said. “Hopefully our donation drive has helped to take the burden off local teachers and will help put these kids on the path to success.”
