Ed Smith

President and Chief Executive Officer

As President and Chief Executive Officer of SMTC Corporation, Mr. Smith is focused on positioning the company for long-term profitable growth and ensuring the success of SMTC’s customers around the world.

Mr. Smith is a seasoned and successful executive with more than 25 years experience in electronic manufacturing services (EMS) industry and the electronic components distribution industry. Prior to joining SMTC he served as President of Avnet Inc. for 7 years and held various other senior positions since 1994. Mr. Smith served, as President and Chief Executive Officer of SMTEK International Inc., from 2002 to 2004, a tier II manufacturer in the EMS industry. Mr. Smith also has extensive experience while serving on a number of boards as a director.

Mr. Smith is the founder and currently runs the We Will Never Forget charitable foundation.

Rich Fitzgerald

Chief Operating Officer

As the Chief Operating Officer, Rich will be responsible for managing Global Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain.

Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Fitzgerald served as Global Vice President of Avnet Integrated Solutions from January 2017 to May 2017 and as Vice President of Business Operations of Avnet Electronics Embedded from July 2014 to January 2017. Prior to joining Avnet, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Qual-Pro Corporation from January 2010 to July 2014 and as Chief Executive Officer of Team Precision Public Company Limited from July 2008 to December 2009, as well as Global Vice President of Operations for CTS Corporation.

Mr. Fitzgerald has a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Maryland – Robert H. Smith School of Business. Rich honorably served 12 years in the US Marine Corp as an officer.

Steve Waszak

Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions

Mr. Waszak is responsible for the accounting and financial management of SMTC Corporation and driving profitable growth, through mergers + acquisitions and internally developed initiatives, for enhanced shareholder value.

Mr. Waszak is an accomplished technology executive with more than 25 years of experience in corporate finance and strategic development roles focusing on transformative change and has led teams through multiple M&A transactions exceeding $1 Billion in value. Prior to SMTC, Mr. Waszak served as CFO at Connected-Holdings, LLC, a vertically integrated, Internet of Things “IoT” intelligent services provider. From 2009 to 2014, Mr. Waszak held roles as CEO and President of BTI Systems, a developer of optical networks + innovative data-center interconnect solutions for smart-cloud providers. Mr. Waszak’s C-Suite experience also includes serving as COO/CFO at Zetera Corporation and at SONOMA Systems which was acquired by Nortel Networks. Following the acquisition of Internet Photonics (a Bell Labs spin-out), where he held the position of CFO/COO, Waszak served as Vice President of Global Sales Operation for Ciena Corporation (NYSE: CIEN). Mr. Waszak has served on Board of Directors of private entities and publicly traded companies including SMTEK International (NASDAQ: SMTK).

Mr. Waszak holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University and began his career as a member of Deloitte’s Entrepreneurial & Emerging Business Services group in Los Angeles.

Josh Chien

Senior Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing, & Customer Experience

Josh Chien joined SMTC as Senior Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing, & Customer Experience. He is responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with our existing customer base, and the growth and acquiring of new customers on a global basis. In addition, he is responsible for Customer Service Excellence and communicating SMTC's value proposition of innovative solutions.

Mr. Chien is a respected leader with over 15 years of experience in the EMS industry. Prior to joining SMTC, he held various roles within Operations, Customer Advocacy, Program Management and Business Development at Sanmina Corporation. During his career he launched dozens of New Product Introductions, New Customer Introductions and managed accounts in excess of $100M. Prior to Sanmina, he worked in aerospace manufacturing.

Mr. Chien holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from University of California, Berkeley.

Bob Miller

Vice President, Customer Acquisition

As Vice President, Customer Acquisition Mr. Miller will be responsible for driving the profitable growth of the company's global footprint.

Mr. Miller is joining SMTC with over 28 years’ experience across a variety of industries, including the aerospace and defense, industrial and medical market segments. Before joining SMTC, Mr. Miller was the Executive Vice President of Sales for Qual-Pro Corporation. Prior to Qual-Pro, he held a Vice President Global Sales and Marketing role with Team Precision a global EMS provider.

Steve Brown

Senior Vice President, Quality & Technology

As Senior Vice President, Quality & Technology, Mr. Brown is responsible for overseeing SMTC's global quality management system and technology road-map development and implementation. Steve leads the quality and engineering teams in delivering world class quality and state of the art innovation in technology for SMTC's customers.

Prior to joining SMTC, Mr. Brown held various positions in product design, new product introduction, test, assembly, program management, R&D and quality with Celestica and IBM. Steve holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Phil Wehrli

Senior Vice President of Global Planning and Supply Chain

As Senior Vice President of Global Planning and Supply Chain, Mr. Wehrli is responsible for the Global Supply Chain teams, Planning Operations, and the Quoting Organization.

Mr. Wehrli is a well-known leader in the distribution and EMS supply chain industry with over 35 years of experience. Before joining SMTC, he served as Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Services for Avnet’s Electronics Marketing Americas group where he successfully managed multi-billion dollar assets. Prior to this position, Mr. Wehrli held Director and VP roles in material operations and procurement services for Avnet’s Technology Solutions and corporate shared services groups. He also held similar leadership roles at Motorola and Apple Computer.

Mr. Wehrli holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Fort Lewis College, Durango Colorado.
